Hi my name is Lena Capece (pronouns: she, her, hers). I study biogeochemical cycling (biotic and abiotic mechanisms) in coastal and aquatic environments.
Specifically, I investigate the cycling of nutrients and the pathways of organic matter decay. I like learning about these processes in modern environments in order to help elucidate how these processes functioned in the past.
I am currently pursuing my PhD in Earth Science with Dr. Morgan Reed Raven at the University of California, Santa Barbara as part of the Raven NOISE (Natural Organics Interacting with Sulfur in the Environment) Lab.
You can typically find me outside running, climbing or relaxing.
